KC Metal Fiber is a metallic short fiber made from metal rods as raw material, produced using the 'vibratory cutting method,' in which short fibers are shaved off while the cutting edge vibrates autonomously due to an elastic cutting tool.
The metal short fibers produced by this method, unlike metal wires made by drawing or rolling, not only have a triangular prism shape but also have a rough surface, which allows them to blend well and exhibit excellent bonding when mixed into resin or refractory materials.
By adding this metal fiber to the resin, it is expected that the resin will acquire metallic properties (heat dissipation, electromagnetic wave shielding, conductivity). Because it is a 'fiber,' one of the advantages is that paths can be formed with a smaller amount of addition compared to metal powder.
We are working on the development of new applications for metal fibers, which are essential materials for brake pads and friction materials. On the day of the exhibition, we will display molded products (injection and compression) and sintered products made using metal fibers, as well as resin pellets.
