Do you know amorphous metals? "a morphous" are an adjective Latin word meaning "without shape". This comes from the fact that the atomic structure is in a random state like a liquid, yet solid. Thanks to this unique structure, it has a very flexible magnetic property. It responds sensitively to changes in the magnetic field and acts as a smooth passageway for the magnetic field. Such properties are suitable for the iron cores of devices that use electromagnetic force to convert energy, such as transformers, inductors, and motors. Thanks to its magnetic softness, the energy conversion efficiency is also increased, and it is recognized as a material with excellent eco-performance. However, this amorphous metal is very hard as a material, and it also has the aspect of being a difficult material to process. Motor cores often have complex shapes and require punching, so we aim to overcome the difficulty of processing and process it efficiently. In the Next Generation Tatara Collaborative Creation Project, Shimane University's NEXTA has organized a consortium of material manufacturers, material processing, and material evaluation companies to tackle the difficult problems of processing.
