Exhibited products (English) | In 2021, NGK Insulators revised its group vision to: “Contributing to a carbon-neutral society and a digital society through proprietary ceramic technologies.” This accelerated NGK’s shift from engine-focused products toward developing new core businesses that meet emerging societal needs. One such innovation is the sub-nanoceramic membrane, a ceramic membrane capable of molecular-level sieving. It is expected to contribute to carbon neutrality by enabling energy-efficient gas separation and dehydration processes, offering both energy savings and cost reductions. Currently, dehydration of organic solvents is mainly done through distillation, which consumes large amounts of energy due to heating. NGK’s sub-nanoceramic membrane contributes to reducing energy requirements, helping lower CO₂ emissions. It is particularly effective for azeotropic mixtures and substances with high reflux ratios, where conventional distillation often struggles to achieve efficient separation. At INCHEM TOKYO 2025, we will showcase a sample of the sub-nanoceramic membrane and present application examples. |
